KANSAS CITY ZOO RUN
Thank you to the 2000 participants that participated in the 5th Anniversary of the Kansas City Zoo "Run for the FROGS". We enjoyed a beautiful day bringing awareness and raising funds for the Amphibian species!
We are pleased to announce that our 2009 Endangered Species for the 6th Annual Kansas City Zoo Run is the Chimpanzee! So, join us for the "Run for the CHIMPS!", Saturday, September 19, 2009, 8:30 am - 4 Mile and 9:45 am - 1 Mile
We support a different endangered species each year. Since our inaugural event in 2004, we have help to raise awareness and funds for the following endangered species: The Eastern Black Rhino, The Cheetah, The African Elephant, The Orangutan and the Frog!
Our event is a wonderful combination of providing a fun, unique racecourse that starts in beautiful Swope Park and runs through the entire Zoo. Participants love the beautiful scenery, as they wind their way through the wetlands of Kenya, on past Botswana and up through Australia. This event caters to the avid runner, with Chip Timing, to the occasional runner or walker. Families love coming out to enjoy this great event that showcases all of the great updates being made at the Kansas City Zoo.

We are excited to have held our 2008 Mahaffie Half and 10K this November with great success. This growing event showcased the warm, new Mahaffie Herritage Center, which includes the history of Mahaffie Farmhouse and a nice gift shop. This year's event enjoyed a newly designed course with an additional 6 miles along the Mill Creek Trail System.
